Cult Curious: an introduction to Ashtanga

Face it… Ashtanga is kind of a cult.

A soft cult, though. With its (ahem) charismatic leadership, cherished rituals, and a tight-knit community, it’s easy to feel like you’re part of something special—because you are!

Join us for "Cult Curious," a beginner-friendly Ashtanga workshop designed to get you Mysore Room ready. Whether you’re new to yoga or returning to your mat, this workshop welcomes all levels.

Yoga for Recovery: Half Led Primary Class (DONATION)

This September, join us in supporting National Recovery Month. On Saturday, September 28, from 9:00-10:00 AM, we’re offering a special Half Led Primary Class. All proceeds will go to the Trini Foundation, a fantastic organization that uses yoga to help people in recovery. Their goal is to raise $20,000 this month, and every dollar from this class will directly support their mission. Come practice with us and make a difference.

LED PRIMARY

A GUIDED ASHTANGA EXPERIENCE

A Led Primary Series class every Saturday morning from 8:00-9:30am.

What is "Led Primary" all about?

It's a 90-minute guided class where the teacher leads you through the postures of the Ashtanga Primary Series. You'll move and breathe together with the other students in a synchronous flow. Don't worry about feeling lost, as the teacher provides helpful cues and prompts throughout the session.

This class is perfect for you if:
- You're new to Ashtanga and want to experience the full sequence.

- You've been practicing for a while but need a refresher on the count.

- You're seeking a shift from your regular Mysore routine.

- You want to be part of a shared experience with friendly and welcoming individuals.

About the Lead Teacher & Facilitator, Meghan Marshall:

Hey there, I'm Meghan and I've been doing Ashtanga every day since 2010. This movement practice is my form of self-care, providing me with the energy I need to take care of my four daughters. Each morning, as I immerse myself in the effort of the practice, my self-doubts and worries fade away, enabling me to start my day with a clear mind and a focus on what needs to be done. I'm passionate about sharing the Ashtanga method with others, and my goal is to create a thriving Mysore room where fellow practitioners can grow.

I previously taught Mysore at Yoga is Youthfulness in Palo Alto from 2015-2020 and co-led the Mysore program at Downtown Yoga Shala in San Jose from 2018-2020. I am grateful for my first teachers in Montreal: Allison Ulan, Jessie Goldberg, Eugene Poku, Jeanne Mudie, Marc and Joanne Darby, Terri McCollum, and Jamie Lee.  I continue to learn from David Robson, Jelena Vesic, and Dr. Shyam Ranganathan.
